~ Home Was Never Sweeter Than Now ~
I've been really into decorating with books lately.
Books I love that I've read over and over to my girls. Books I've found at old book stores with vintage children's books. (Connecticut has lovely used book stores. Out of print books that make me gasp out loud when I find one I've been looking for)
I love them all. Little piles of them... moving them from place to place in my house.
(Little Grey Rabbit books, out of print, hard to find. I gasped out loud in the used bookstore last week when Abigail casually walked over to me. I was sitting on the floor combing through the shelves. Books all around me. She handed it to me. Mama, look at this one...." Meant to be in my house. For sure.
And wreaths. I've been decorating with wreaths lately too. I love how one little wreath can change a room in an instant.
Susan Branch books have always been (since 1996 when I discovered them) my starting point for decorating.
For April showers. To remind me to dance on the rainy days too.
And 'be happy'
To remind me that their dreams are not my dreams. To help them look for their dreams, to nurture them and celebrate them.
Scott treated me to these iron bunny book ends. I wob them!
My little entrance table.
The first book I ever read aloud to a classroom and cried at the end. Right there in front of twenty children. Way back in 1995. They were third graders. Of course I had already known the story but something about reading it aloud to my first class moved me. I read it in the fall of each year teaching. And then read it to Anna and Abigail many many times.
"And then my heart with pleasure fills and dances
with the daffodiols" William Wordsworth
I love your April Home!!
