Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend was like a bubble of joy I just didn't want to leave. After our big day filled with good food, family, lots of set up and lots of clean up -- we just has the most marvelous days, one spilling into another.

We watched a movie each night.

We ate leftovers and went out to eat.

We got our Christmas tree.

There were cups and cups of tea all weekend long.

And we were all home! Those of you that have college aged children know just how wonderful it is when everyone is home. It is the happiest!

On the Sunday after Mass we took this quick family picture in our kitchen and then the girls opened up a few festive things to wear over the next month! I love doing this each year.

A Christmas tree sweater

And advent calendar for the month of December

And a Life Is Good tee in their stocking.

Oh and even soft and cozy flannel nightgowns for Christmas morning.

I love this time of year!

The Story of Our Christmas Tree

I wrote the story way back on an older post. Click HERE to read that post. It tells the background, the whole story that began twenty-six years ago.

And there are oh so many years on this blog of mine documenting the 'getting of our trees' because to me it is oh so magical and oh so important as that symbol of Christmas.

The Story of Our Thanksgiving

I love this holiday oh so much. By Thanksgiving our home is all decorated for Christmas (except for our real tree -- that goes up in December).

With all of the garland, twinkling lights, and feel of magic all around me, Thanksgiving just feels like the nicest way to start the holiday season.

The warmth in our cozy kitchen, the smell of the turkey roasting, all of those side dishes that we love so much. And family gathering around our tables.

Here is our Thanksgiving:

Gingerbread cookies
