The Great Big 10 Birthday Post

Abigail turned ten! TEN!!!

2

We celebrated with our little family on her birthday.

(that post is back here)

But on the following weekend we crossed our fingers and hoped for sunshine. So that the tradition could continue. A birthday party in our backyard under the birthday tree... well, it's just magic to me.

I found this dress and knew in an instant that we should have a rainbow theme.

And since Abigail knows and love the song from the old Muppet movie, I knew she'd go for a rainbow theme. (song for the party... you've got to listen. Remember it?)

I took some pictures at Elizabeth Park just when the tulips were at their peak.

A little photoshop magic and we had a rainbow in the background. Perfection.

As much as I plan out a birthday party before the event, there is always so much to do on that day. We alllllll work together to make it happen!

I cut and arranged a rainbow of flowers the evening before,

night before 1

and started baking.

The birthday tree. It's the start backdrop of every single birthday. This year Scott created a rainbow canopy. And it was stunning.

Anna happily took charge of the Rainbow Photo Booth.

Now what's super fun is that we didn't let Abigail see any of the decorations until moments before the party when it was all set up. And then Anna opened the back door and out she ran!

Anna tried out the photo booth just to make sure before the guests arrived. (she took pictues all afternoon of Abigail and her friends in front of this backdrop. She used her instant camera and everyone got to take home their pictures!

I love birthday parties.  Big ones.  With lots of color.  I love the planning, the dreaming.  I love putting it together.  But most of all I love this little girl, now 10!  She has blessed my life in more ways than I could count.  She is the sunshine in my life.

  6. These are amazing photos. I wish I could have also been there. Anyways, my birthday is coming and I am planning an outdoor family party. But would prefer booking some rental party Venues in NYC. Do you have any recommendations?
