It is much like last year. Really it is. But also so different.
This year I wanted to use my beautiful collection of vintage children's storybooks.
So here is our Christmas Vintage Storybook family room
Storybooks throughout. This is one of my favorites and has a front and center seat right in the middle of the coffee table.
And is signed by the illustrator.
I want to live in that house.
There's just something about a Christmas book with animals as the characters.
The family room fireplace is very different this year. The Santa oil painting usually hangs in the living room but I just love it in here with all of the Christmas children's books.
And I used my vintage books as my mantle decorations. Sweet Sweet Sweet
Little Grey Rabbit was the first in my animal vintage collection. This is the book that got me shopping all year long.
But now this one is one of my favorites. A 1938 classic...
These books have the most lovely illustrations.
I added a felt holly garland for a storybook touch.
And four stockings. We've never had stockings at this fireplace, always in the living room. But this year we decided to hang four (not for Santa to fill) for us to fill for each other. And boy are we all so excited about our little secret stocking suffers.
I filled the bookcases with storybooks.
And throughout the room.
This new one (new to me) that I'm in love with... swoon
Right next to these that make my heart pitter~patter.
Tucked here and there (this one under the tree)
'Christmas in the Forest' (from Santa, back here) watches over the room when we are not in there and welcomes us home each evening.
Like any home, our kitchen is the heart of our home, but just off the 'viola room' our family room calls.
To me this room is pretty in the day, but so cozy at night. Especially with snow headed our way on Saturday morning.
'Brew me a cup for a winters night.
For the wind howls loud and the furies fight;
Spice it with love and stir it with care
and I'll toast our bright eyes,
My sweetheart fair...'
~Minna Thomas Antrim
That desk right there... that's where I am when the whole house is sleeping at 4:30am... best time of the day.
"I wish you all a Merry Christmas! I wish us all a world as kind as a child can imagine it!
Merry Christmas!

(adding these in on Saturday morning)
The best... the very best is when it snows. This room is filled with windows. Two huge skylights, a sliding glass door and two hug windows overlook our backyard. When we built this room Abigail was a wee toddler and I wanted her to be able to look outside all winter long. So the windows are plentiful and floor to ceiling and above us. So in the winter this room is my favorite. I wish I waited to take all of the pictures when it was snowing. But these add ons will do (wink)
Yes, now if feels like Christmas!
"Shut the door; not that it lets in the cold ~
But that it lets out the cozyness" Mark Twain
