It was the earliest last~day~of~ school there has ever been. Ever. As a child school went from the Tuesday after Labor Day (around September 5th) to mid June (at least until June 18th)
Our town has 184 days of school and each snow day we have to tack on to the end of school.
But this year they cut out a one week (really unnecessary) vacation in February. Really, the February vacation week is a New England tradition for skiing. But we don't ski so cut it out!
I loved the girls summer starting so early. June 10th to August 31st... lovely.
It was a really chilly morning!
(Anna walking to school through the back yard and gate)
I dropped Abigail off at the drop off circle for the last time in 3rd grade!
And then about 30 minutes later was back at her school for the last day, flag pole ceremony
I captured a few last pictures with this grand teacher
Who loved on (and taught) my daughter from the first moment til the last.
(flag pole ceremony on the first day of school)
It was a short day of school and the girls came home to just a little something to celebrate
Anna (on her 13th birthday) was of course the first home because middle school gets out a bit earlier) She walked through the garden gate to summer!
with another award
and then just 20 minutes later Abigail came running out with some tears in her eyes
They look so tired and worn out to me here.
They opened some preppy little summer headbands.
It was Anna's 13th birthday so After Scott got home we did more celebrating! (more coming tomorrow)
