Our Cup Runneth Over

It really sometimes feels unfair, living in Connecticut in October.  (Talk to me in March and I'm sure wherever YOU live... it's better than Connecticut) But right now our state is flying their flag high, she's proud of herself knowing that THIS is her month!  (perfect music for this post)

We weren't on a 'leaf peeping" trip.  Just out to a few stores to look for a few things.  (Anna has a field trip in Monday and needed jeans) (and I wanted to stop at an antique store).  Just just driving along and I have to laugh at how I ask Scott to stop and turn around so I can capture a few things on my camera.  And this what I came up with...

4

Not our church but a a pretty white church underneath a canopy for autumn leaves... I have stars in my eyes for stuff like this.

5

Just driving along and came across this. Yup, just a parking lot. (but magic in the fall) "Quick, Scott, STOP!" (he's used to me and my romantic self)

7

But then we had no idea... a path, down to the river. Glorious, wonderful sunlight and leaves. Be. Still. My. Heart.

8

9

And this path with trees and a carpet of leaves.

10

We were all pretty thrilled with this discovery.

12

And to think that I was just begging him to stop for a pretty parking lot. Who knew? Joy of joy!

13

It sure was cold though. First really cold day of the year.

14

Un-photoshopped, God perfection.

And this. Because my blog has been a bit boring lately. And because 'he makes me feel so young'.

Back home from antiquing she washed her little treasure.

Other things from our weekend...

She loved this book. (I read it to my very first class waaaay back in 1995)

A twelve year old on the swing. Gotta grab your camera for that.

3

She does own a music stand. (the fireplace is exciting in the fall... not so much in March)

22

Sunday morning. This one is for my Mom who MADE this beautiful dress that looked like sweet, vintage, perfection on Anna for Church.

And then. You're never going to believe this! It Snowed!!!

So of course we all ran out with our tongues to the sky; trying to catch the very first flake of the season!

25

And I caught it. On Abigail's hat. The very first flake.

26

And tiny ones in her hair.

Don't worry. The sun came out.

And guess what's coming?  more color, crunch of leaves under our feet (not enough leaves for that yet), piles of leaves to jump in (we're not there yet either), Thanksgiving, Christmas, Pretty new snow, like I said, happiness is on the way... our cup runneth over.

  1. Hahaha. I think we're in the same boat for fall and winter actually! Michigan is delightful in the fall and horrid in the winter. Although I will admit there's nothing like a new england fall. :) I love checking your blog at this time of the year because of all the fall (and also at thanksgiving and christmas...I love checking your blog all the time) :)

Your photos do that to me.
I'm just soaking it all in.
And dreaming of an autumn road trip to your part of the world someday. : )

  4. When I look at your pictures I imagine being a pioneer or living in the time of the early settlers, without all of the electronic gadgets. Imagine how much they truly appreciated the beauty they were surrounded by, as you do. I wonder how many do these days?
