I don't know how. But I actually have a photo of Anna writing a letter to Riley for the very first time. It was back in 2012.
I think I was hoping that a friendship would spark.
And boy did it ever!!!
Here they are last summer when this awesome family came alllllll the way to Connecticut to meet us!
(love you for that Riley... I could stare at this open arms, ready for a big hug picture forever)
One year later...
Let's just say, I'd be in a car for 31 hours again for this face on Anna. Riley is her only (and I don't mean that in a sad way... it's just the way Anna is... happier to read a book during a school lunch than have lots of friends to talk to) friend.
(yup, Riley, you're that awesome) (look at that smile on Anna)
So instead of posting this part of our trip day by day I just wanted to post a few of these two. I am so happy for their friendship.
And this just about sums it up. Saying goodbye is truly painful. Horrible, tear your heart out painful.
But without that hurt of a goodbye I suppose it wouldn't be such an amazing friendship. One that her daddy and I are prayerfully grateful for.
"Rather be true friend to one and known by none, than known by many but have no true friends in any."
And because it's just too sad to end on that sobbing one... here's to next time Riley. You are one special girl... thank you for being our daughters one and only.
"Parting is such sweet sorrow." - William Shakespeare

ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet friendship I hope that Anna treasures it forever, no matter what other people say. I have a one and only as well and I absolutely LOVE the time i get whenever we get to see each other. (Not very often) I have to say...everyone needs a one and only :)
