... baby steps here... baby steps
and I'll get through all of these pictures. I will!
So first things first -- why Alaska? Well because Santa sent us on this trip -- it was a big surprise from him! (check out this post back here when the girls were figuring it all out)
Yes, it was Christmas morning when we found out we were going to Alaska.
At first they found this playmobil cruise ship.
And they noticed something little, really tiny in their hands.
They started reading that teeny tiny thing.
It said to check their daddy's email
And then their faces lit up!
It was a magical morning for sure!
And we spent months figuring out what to pack. It's summer, so summer stuff, it's Alaska and it rains a lot so rain gear, it might get cold so warm stuff. It was hard to figure out I tell you. But we did it!
And off we went 3 days before our Anniversary we headed off.
First stop was an hour and half to Boston. We flew from Boston and landed in Vancouver, British Columbia. We'd never been to that city and decided to spend four days before the cruise to have some fun checking out a new place.
We stayed here, Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver. It was perfectly located, right on the water and right there in the heart of the downtown city. It was two steps to where we would load onto our ship later in the week.
We were tired after traveling all day long {we had gotten up really early to get our our flight in Boston on time} and we were hungry. They had a lovely restaurant outside overlooking the water and the mountains.
I love when Scott gets great shots on his phone --
It was our first evening of living in the most perfect temperature. It was just 70 and sunny without a drop of humidity. It was a perfect night to wear shorts with a little sweater. My favorite kind of weather!
After that it was an early bedtime because we woke up in beautiful Vancouver and had do much planned!
Yes! The next morning we were up bright and early for a day at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (check this out!) Opened in 1889! And let me tell you that we might go back to Vancouver just for a few more days at the Capilano! If I lived anywhere near Vancouver I'd have a membership and go all the time!
My pictures just don't do justice to the park -- check out the website!
This is looking down from the top of the suspension bridge.
So much fun!
The views were spectacular!
And then after you cross the bridge there is so much more to explore. So much that it's not crowded and not hot at all! My favorite kind of weather.
See them up in the treetop?
I waited to go up so that I could get a few pictures of them.
My sweet girls and Scott up there right in the middle!
There's Scott taking a picture of me!
Now I'm up and they are on the opposite end.
There was a lovely restaurant up there that we loved.
With the best unsweetened iced tea (earl grey I think) and yummy lunches!
The girls shopped and we just enjoyed a wonderful day!
Then we explored more on the other side of the bridge.
That's a view of the suspension bridge from across the park.
This walk out was so high and cool!
We had such a peaceful and beautiful day at that park! It's hard to imagine that such trees and forest were minutes from the city of Vancouver where we were staying.
Then a bunch of research found this award winning geleto shop that made non-allergic sorbet for Abigail!
And it was in sight of our hotel!
The girls both said at the end of this day that it was such a great day they didn't need any other vacation. We could have gone home after this day!
