Our Home ~ Easter

41

It's funny, I read last years post when I described by decorating style as Classic and Romantic. And how even through I love cherry wood in my home that I love light, airy walls.  But how our bedroom and kitchen were the only light airy light blue that I love.  Well, a lot has changed in a year.  Our living room and a light airy mint green.  And our 'main' house color is a light, airy, white.  The dining room is a creamy white and RIGHT NOW as I type Scott is painting our little mini half bath light, airy, blue (same color as the kitchen).  I'm so happy with all of the new paint colors all around me.  I'm looking forward to paint brushes away for the weekend and just being home.

I have an "Easter Bin" where my bunnies and chicks wait to come out each spring.  I did open the bin, but I only took a few things out this year.  For some reason I had fun this time 'shopping' around my house and using things I love in new ways.  Creamware cupcake toppers became little farm animals on the mantle.  ~ I pulled out my collection of 'Little Golden Books' and used some spring/Easter ones on the mantle too.  ~  I also purposely kept some spaces open and inviting.  Like our family room coffee table.  Usually I do a little display there but I kept it open for games and puzzles and feet up when we watch our Easter movies.

And the biggest change in my Easter decorating was my giving up Instagram for Lent.  It was weird and hard in the beginning.  I didn't post much in Insta but I loved looking at my favorite decorators.  Regular people who loved to make their house cozy.  I got such good ideas there.  But I really enjoyed decorating myself this Lent, without copying.  And really LOVING what I already had and using it the way that made me happy.

But first... music that I love

I decided to make a garland this year for my mantle.

and the girls helped me.

I used the vintage paper dolls that the Easter Bunny gave Abigail a few years ago. (I love when they share their things with me and our house)

So simple really, but so sweet. I just loved it!

While at Christmas, Santa leaves the gifts around the tree in the living room, at Easter, the bunny leaves the baskets filled in the family room.

I pulled some things from around my house and less from my 'easter bin' and loved these creamware farm animals. So spring.

Although it's not yet tulip time in Connecticut (late April and early May) I loved this spring banner.

My Beatrix Potter people are up all year but they are especially happy in the spring.

In the spirit of still sharing her things with my decorating, Abigail let me play with her little, mini, rainbow colored Peter Rabbit books. I liked them on the windowsill but worried about water splashing up on them

so I moved them to the tea cart

I think Easter looks so pretty in a home. I think I'll leave up for the rest of spring.
