When we moved into this house there was a grand fireplace in the living room; elegant, huge, perfect for decorating for Christmas. We added on this family room when the girls were little. I knew that a fireplace in there was a must. That room can get chilly and the fireplace heats it up in minutes. On Saturday I got up before the sun to finish up our Christmas cards {I love early mornings} and I clicked it on; it was toasty and cozy in there in two minutes.
We changed the slipcovers to white and I love bright white a Christmastime. It makes all of the old quilts and Troy Robe wool blankets pop.
The Christmas tree in this room can be a lot taller with the high ceilings and I love how light and airy it is. We only decorate it with a felt, white garland and candy canes.
My favorite 'new' but antique piece in here that I found months ago is that gold vase. It really looks elegant with dark flowers in there. Simple deep red carnations are perfect; they last a really long time without having to go back and cut the stems.
This glass fluted bowl filled with sugared apples and pinecones gives the tray that cozy touch.
And the vintage books -- I love them so much!
I think I just might love this room the best at Christmas because it's filled with collections and things that I've treasured for years. It's like a hug when I'm in here!
