Our Home ~ September

13

I know... it's October 6th and I'm just posting pictures of around our home in September. All of the apples and the 'back to school' is packed away and jack-o-lanterns are mostly up but I love to look back so I don't want to forget how I decorated this September.

It sure would be easier for this mama and this full time - back in the classroom teacher to simply decorate for each season... but it makes me happy to change around things in my home - to make it an lovely place for the people I most love in this world. So, yes, September decorating is different than October. Just a bit more orange I'd have to say!

This room, our family room is for cozy nights. I love that it gets dark earlier now. All the more reason to be home and in fresh pjs.

The dining room table is often filled with homework and I like to have a little something pretty in the center.

In our living room I wanted a bit 'more' since it was where this took place in early September.

I want to also remember how crazy our house was this September. With a really big project going on... it started in late July and it's still going. It's getting closer but man oh man, it's been crazy!

Sometimes it almost feels silly to take pictures of my home each month and post them here. Now that I am back in the classroom my 'work' feels so much more... {it's hard to find the words} ... so much more brain work... analyzing students... where they are... where they need to go. Planning and making and planning some more. And that's not even the actual teaching time.

But then I know, know, know, know that my 'work' at home is eternal and so so important to me. To raise these daughters and love my husband. To make their home ~ our home a cozy, tranquil, pretty, welcoming place each and every day. I never want my home to look like / feel like like I do sometimes... a frazzled, over worked teacher and mama. I know that these walls and all that I choose to put on them is just one part - but it is part of that loving and raising, and nurturing. It's everything to me because THEY are everything to me.

  1. I think what decorating for each season is comparable to what comfort food does for the soul :). And yours looks so warm and soothing!
