A Trip to Stowe, Vermont

We just got back from out trip to Stowe... all four of us! We love it there. There is just something about the quaint simplicity that we crave and adore about that town. Now that we are winding down to the end of the summer we love going away mid-August for an easy-breezy trip. It's like one last relax and enjoy each other because boy howdy... when we get home it's all go go go for sure. Scott has a whole middle school to get up and running. I have a classroom to dust off and plan for, get in and set up for. Anna has a whole slew of things to get done and Abigail's list is endless for the end of her high school years! So this mini vacation comes at just the right time for us.

This will be the second time we've stayed at the lovely Green Mountain Inn. It's right the heart of Stowe Village (Main Street).

Swimming

Fitness (with lots of beauty mixed in)

One thing we love about this resort is there fitness area. Now that the girls are older we look for vacations that are much more active. While we'd prefer to hike or something outside, there are just some days when it works out better in a gym. I love that this is us now.

One day we went for a hike. We knew that it was 5.3 miles to the end and I thought we'd go for maybe 3 miles and then 3 miles back for a grand total of 6 miles. That would have been a long walk/hike. But we just kept going and walked the full 5.3 miles and 5.3 miles back. My apple watch told me that we walked over 10.71 miles! Oh my gosh!

Here we are just starting in the morning.

It is just such a beauty of a walk and the weather was perfection. So we just kept going... walking through scenes like this.

This is Anna at then end of the 5.3 miles -- about to turn around and walk another 5.3 miles back!

There was a storm the night before so there were many times we had to walk around water or over huge trees that had fallen down.

We weren't quite prepared for over 10 miles. We brought no water or snacks, and so I was getting a little worried toward the end. But just around 8 miles we came across a restaurant. We were able to sit outside and eat the yummiest food and just rest before the last few miles back to Stowe Village.

Here we are at the very end! We made it!

Ice cream for all at the end

Another hike right up Stowe's Green Mountain for just Scott and I. I've seen that scene in the opening of hallmark movies. It's the prettiest ever up there!

Family Time

Scott and I went for a Massage on a rainy afternoon. Amazing!

There was tea and cookies every afternoon at 4:00.

We loved shopping and just browsing through the most fun stores.

And just being together!

There were spectacular sunsets.

We went to the church of the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday morning followed by the Stowe Farmer's Market for lunch!

We hung out at the fire pit near the pool at night discussing our plans for the next day.

Fun on the Way Home

We always stop half way home at the Vermont Country Store
