The First Day of School

Back to school is so many things to us.

It's...

the "back to school blessing"

it's "you're in the right place"

it's "the night before senior year" 

and it's this... 

a mom rushing to teach on her own first day with a class full of fourth graders but still wanting to document everything! We leave the house by 7:04 every day and I only had 2 seconds to get these but am always glad I do! 

And then before I know it I'm in my classroom ready to go and waiting to start! 

This is my awesome team that I get to work with each day!

Of course it was Scott's first day of school too but didn't grab a picture for me -- I totally forgot to remind him.

The Night Before Senior Year

Our Abigail is a  S E N I O R in high school! I can not believe it! 

She went from kindergarten all those years ago... 

to so many years in between 

Well, I didn't mean to go through every single year from kindergarten up... but I did! Oh boy! How blessed am I that I got a front row seat into her educational journey. SO so blessed!

Of course this year we ran over to her school the night before to take a few photos of her (for the last time!) She's wearing a very special shirt this year... her SENIOR SHIRT! Every year the seniors get a shirt. They decorate it. They wear it on the first day of school! Abigail did such an amazing job on her shirt. She took the time that few days before the first day to embroider it! She had already picked out her skirt and chose to make those little flowers using the same colors that were in the skirt. I think her senior shirt looks sooooOoooo 'abigail'. It's hard to explain. It's just HER!

We had fun on this 8.5 minute photo shoot and I adore how the photos came out!

Today was day 11 but I found a few pictures on my phone of the first day of school this year so here we go...

So much 'back to school', right?! But it wouldn't be complete without a quick picture of Abigail moments before I dropped her off at her high school on the first day (and then zipped over to my school) 

And here I am in my classroom so excited, nervous, all of the emotions even after all these years! 

This is my awesome team that I get to work with every day: Amy and Brian - we have so much fun! They make me laugh. They let me be me. They share ideas, inspire, and are good good friends!

The Night Before Freshman Year

Right before the first day of school (after orientation) I brought Abigail to her school wearing her 'first day' dress. Always blue. 

It's hard to believe that this sunshine in now in high school. What an exciting day the next one would be. She has taken with grace all of the attention that Anna has lately. Picking, choosing a college, preparing for leaving for college, actually moving in ... Abigail has been so gracious to put Anna first because she loves her. I am so glad that in this busy week (2 weeks ago) I took these of my sweet youngest girl. My heart is so full.
