Fall Things: Number 7

Today is the day for a hike in the woods (well, not today, but this past Saturday)! And it was a spectacular morning. Just S P E C T A C U L A R.

Scott and I dropped Abigail off at chamber quartette, viola tour group, followed by Vivace orchestra. As much as we love love love our girls and we do oh so much, we seized this opportunity for some 'us time' and off we went. First this hike. We thought that the leaves in Connecticut were all past prime, but we were happily wrong! They were just that minute, it seemed, at their peak! Boy, were we L U C K Y!

Here's a little peek into our hike!

“October…the artist’s paradise of wonder and beauty.

Harvest at its fullest.

Getting in the corn.

Stacking the wood for the long winter.

The falling leaves in a silent benediction,

like blessings that have fallen upon us all year long”.

Fall Things: Number 6

It's Pumpkin Day! Horary!

I am so grateful for this DAY so so GRATEFUL!

It was sun-shiny beautiful,

the LEAVES were at their peak,

and my Mama's heart was happy because I had my whole little family with me.

Thank you Holy Cross for a full fall break week!

Here is just one little stop on the way.

Oh the colors and the sunlight. If only mid to late October would last forever in Connecticut!

And then it was off to the pumpkin patch. Oh the memories here. Every October. When we drive up that hill it's like stepping back in time to me. My girls suddenly turn 10 and 4 and all feels perfect in the world. I am so grateful for those memories!

Look at those two cuties... just a SwEeT as can be.

Got our two cute pumpkins (get it?) Now back on the hay ride!

They're measured the ol'fashioned way. No extra cost for charm.

And then we spend time on the farm -- we love the piles of pumpkins, the animals, the views, all of it.

And recently (just last year I think), the farmer's wife opened a store in their cute little downtown. Gosh, I didn't take a picture but head on over to my instagram and click on my Pumpkin Day!!! stories and you can see.

Here's a few other years to look through...
2018
I think that's just enough "going back"

Fall Things: Number Four

We created a fall snack/meal board and watched It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

I'm sure when the girls were little we had snacks when we watched it, but this huge meal snack board is only the second year for us -- and oh boy we love it! We talked about it throughout the year and couldn't wait for this tradition!

Fall Things Number Three: Hot Apple Cider Donuts around the Fire Pit

This was a delicious 'fall thing' we did!

I baked these apple cider donuts and we had them around a roaring fire pit. It was so much fun!

Click HERE for the recipe from the coziest blog ever: Susan Branch. She loves seasons, recipes, and making home cozy... so I love her!

These donuts are actually really simple to make and they taste like fall.

Now us around the fire is really really hard to capture -- especially since we were out there in the pitch dark of late late evening. Pictures are just not great but I don't care, I just want to never forget.

We put on heavy sweat shirts / sweaters / jackets but we really didn't need them because Scott had the fire really going strong!

Just in case you want to see the process... click HERE to where he was just getting started with this project.

Fall Things Number Two : The Riverton Fair!

Our second 'must do' is this fall was the Riverton Fair. It had been years since we went and we so wanted this day! Click HERE to see us there back in 2017! Click HERE to see 2018 at the fair

We had to take a detour on our way but it all worked out because we drove past the best farm ice-cream!

And then we drove there over bridges, noticing and loving the beginning of the leaves turning.

Scenic drives for sure!

I guess we got there at just the right time as the light was filtering through the trees so pretty.

Had to stop and capture a few of my favorites!

Does everyone else love photos from the top of the faris wheel? I love the look! The big trees, the quaint fair, all it so charming!

All smiles with the view from up there.

Sisters on the swings...
