Friendship Valentine Party

1

Years ago when Anna was in third and fourth grade I had a simple, little party for her and her friends.  Abigail has been looking forward to her turn for a long time.  I was so happy to do this for her.  I'm really not the best at play dates.  I love my afternoons and evenings with my girls.  So this was my way of having one big play date.

She was having her own little dance party when she was waiting for everyone to arrive and I was setting up.

When her friends arrived they did a little craft in the playroom.

And then it was time for treats.

I used Scott's grandmothers punch glasses.

And my grandmothers china plates.

They had chocolate cupcakes and chocolate dipped marshmallows.

There were chocolate chip and chocolate creme cookies.

And sparkling pink lemonade

But best of all there were smiles and giggles around the table.

I'd do it all over again for her joy.

I know how important friends are.

And I'm so happy knowing that my girl has these girls to make her laugh every day.

They are all so beautiful inside and out.

And that makes life beautiful.

I love these girls... Anna's friends.  Really, I do.  Anna struggled with such an extreme case of being shy in elementary school.  She often played alone at recess.  She wasn't ever sad about it; it just 'was'.  I prayed and prayed that God would send a sweet friend into her life at school.  Yes, she has the most special friend from church, and another that was in her orphanage in China.  But never a school friend.  So when she started talking about these girls last year in third grade, I threw a Valentine Friendship Party.

And I just had to do it again this year.

They are oh so sweet and they make Anna happy.  I was at the sink 'minding my own business' and praying the whole time, "thank you God for answering this prayer.  I thank you for sending these girls into Anna's life.  And thank you by the way that they 'just happen to be' Asian."  Oh how grateful I am.

They painted heart ornaments and frames.

I took their picture together so that they'd have them for their rooms at home.

It was a wonderful afternoon.  I really love this time of year... maybe even more than Christmas!
