When Scott is Away

This week Scott traveled for work. In the town he works, {he's the principal of the middle school} they have a 'retreat' in the summer. It's a team bonding, fun, planning, and work trip. They usually stay somewhere wonderful. There are great dinners and activities... and this year it was two nights.

As much as we miss him because (especially in the evening) we all do, we really make the most of our girls time. Anna, Abigail, and I started talking about this weeks ago, dreaming of all of the things we'd love to do to spoil ourselves. Usually we have too many ideas for those two nights but we sure do try to pack in as much as we can (around our regular days of appointments, tennis, viola lessons, etc).

On the first night I made two different kinds of quiche and we watched a Hallmark movie and enjoyed quiche. We happened to watch a Christmas movie -- my girls will always watch a Christmas movie with me.

After we took out all of the clothes we think we might take with us on a trip and tried to make lists, arrange it, and figure out what we still needed.

As always we go to bed too late because we talk, talk, talk, talk, talk. Abigail and I had a sleepover -- so fun!

There is always our regular times of lunch together on the porch, reading aloud and then our Bible Study (which we call Girls Club)

I love the summer that our talks can be light and easy or deep and powerful. One thing for sure is that we love being together and talking. Hours can feel like minutes with my girls.

The next day we decided to eat out and shop a bit. So fun!

And then before we knew it Daddy was home and all felt right again.
