Our Trip to Acadia National Park (part 1)

Acadia National Park  and Bar Harbor Maine

We headed to Mount Desert Island in Maine for our vacation this year. We decided on renting a house and I think I'll start with those pictures - don't you all just love seeing inside houses?

We had ample room and it was so clean and cozy... with such a view! Although our plan was to be 'out and about' all of the time, really... but it provided a lovely place when it was late evenings or times when we just needed to chill. We arrived really late after spending the day in such a fun time halfway in the town Freeport Maine. I do always take pictures of places we stay because it's always fun to look back as a family. Here's a peek...

view from the screened in porch off the living room on our first night when we arrived...

Bar Harbor is such a fun town to explore. We spent a day in this town years ago when a Canada cruise stopped for a day here. (that blog post is back here

Don't we always find a book shop first? Always!

One Morning In Maine is one of my favorite children's picture books. I use it as an anchor text when I teach fictional narrative with my fourth graders.

We shopped books until it was our turn for breakfast at this fun spot

Oh my goodness - they had a whole vegan section so it was a safe place for Abigail to eat. (and yes, I asked and bought two of those adorable tea mugs - I love different mugs that aren't from Target, ha!)

More shopping please!

This is such a pretty walk along the coast in Bar Harbor.

Our first activity (after eating and shopping and checking out a cute town) was a hike in Acadia National Park.

Sand Beach : Acadia National Park

Across a beach to the start of the trail that of course we thought would be easy for a first hike.

But climbing rocks straight up proved to be quite strenuous.

But so worth that view!

We made it to the top!

Back down was of course even more challenging but even the view from the ground was beautiful!.

Part two coming tomorrow...

  2. The view from your rental...beautiful! Love you were able to find a vegan restaurant for Abigail. You know we are always on the lookout for vegan places as well. I can’t wait to see more pictures from your vacation.
