Apple Picking

We had S O    M U C H    F U N

We swooped up to Anna's college -- we are so grateful she's not allll the way in Bejing China--

and we went apple picking.

Found the cutest place and loved every moment of this first fall tradition. Just look at all the fun! And what a darling place!

We brought our lunches but found that they had a yummy grill and we just couldn't pass up the adorable atmosphere and fun so we just ordered out food and were so glad we did!

Getting to be with these girls = smiling ear to ear!

Look how cute this sign was -- of course we asked someone to take a picture for us!

Then it was off on a wagon ride to the apple orchard!

This photo above and the photo below mean fall has begun for me!

Anna has been on a huge shift in her health for the past 3 months -- so proud of her -- we filled up her bucket with apples to last until we see her again!

I was mostly the apple holder and plopped right down for a rest.

An apple named for the name of my school...

ahhhh fall!

And we ended our time with dessert under the lights -- bread pudding made from their apple cider donuts with homemade vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream, and caramel topping!

Early September Weekending

 apple picking (more coming soon)

mass ~ing ("see you at the Mass" is explained here) Anna sent me this text and I adore it. We were in our 'regular pew' and she was in hers... just a state away.

Working ~ little something new in my classroom

Savoring

It was so much fun to make two recipes from this 'new to me' cookbook. I have an obsession's with fall cookbooks... I really shouldn't buy another for the rest of my life. But this one was too cute to pass up. Good news is that the first two I tried were a hit! We enjoyed bowls of pumpkin apple soup (added chicken) and honey-wheat bread while watching You've' Got Mail for the fall vibes.

Decorating ~ I finished decorating (mostly) our house for a cozy few months. I'll post so much more when I can.

Not pictured: I scratched out a huge list on Friday night after I got home from my school. I had SO much in my head - so much I was behind on after 'opening up' my classroom, Scott 'opening up' his school, getting Anna settled back in college, and getting Abigail into her senior year.
  • blogging (I was so behind - feels good to be getting caught up)
  • editing pictures
  • my September planner - all made and ready to go
  • a calendar family meeting so we're all in sync
  • packed away all of my summer strawberry decor
  • cleaned out my closet
Wishing you all a wonderful short week!

The First Day of School

Back to school is so many things to us.

It's...

the "back to school blessing"

it's "you're in the right place"

it's "the night before senior year"

and it's this...

a mom rushing to teach on her own first day with a class full of fourth graders but still wanting to document everything! We leave the house by 7:04 every day and I only had 2 seconds to get these but am always glad I do!

And then before I know it I'm in my classroom ready to go and waiting to start!

This is my awesome team that I get to work with each day!

Anna sent me this of HER first day

Of course it was Scott's first day of school too but didn't grab a picture for me -- I totally forgot to remind him.

Happy first day to us!

The Night Before Senior Year

Our Abigail is a  S E N I O R in high school! I can not believe it!

She went from kindergarten all those years ago...

to so many years in between

Well, I didn't mean to go through every single year from kindergarten up... but I did! Oh boy! How blessed am I that I got a front row seat into her educational journey. SO so blessed!

Of course this year we ran over to her school the night before to take a few photos of her (for the last time!) She's wearing a very special shirt this year... her SENIOR SHIRT! Every year the seniors get a shirt. They decorate it. They wear it on the first day of school! Abigail did such an amazing job on her shirt. She took the time that few days before the first day to embroider it! She had already picked out her skirt and chose to make those little flowers using the same colors that were in the skirt. I think her senior shirt looks sooooOoooo 'abigail'. It's hard to explain. It's just HER!

Let's get a closer look at all of that work she put into it!

We had fun on this 8.5 minute photo shoot and I adore how the photos came out!

Wishing you the happiest year Abigail!
