The Story of Our Thanksgiving

I love this holiday oh so much. By Thanksgiving our home is all decorated for Christmas (except for our real tree -- that goes up in December).

With all of the garland, twinkling lights, and feel of magic all around me, Thanksgiving just feels like the nicest way to start the holiday season.

The warmth in our cozy kitchen, the smell of the turkey roasting, all of those side dishes that we love so much. And family gathering around our tables.

Here is our Thanksgiving:

~ Monday Evening ~

Gingerbread cookies

~ Tuesday Evening ~

mashed potatoes

sweet potatoes

~ Wednesday Evening ~

decorating gingerbread men

pecan pie

making dough for rolls

~ Thursday, Thanksgiving  Day ~

apple pie in the early morning

dough rising until doubled for dinner rolls

apple pie waiting - I let the apples drip for at least an hour and then boil down that liquid until it caramelizes.

the girls watched Home Alone and I served them homemade cinnamon rolls (made from the extra dough) and hot tea

right before going in the oven - right before the topping too

golden dinner rolls right out of the oven

family picture - I love these people so much and am so blessed they are mine

our back door ready for family to arrive

all the rest of the magic

golden perfection - always from a local farm, never frozen, always organic
