Sometimes there is a concert that takes us by surprise. This one was that. Abigail played in a chamber group this fall/winter and their concert was this past weekend.
I love the sound of a deep, rich, vibrant orchestra.
But the sound of chamber music is intimate, delightful. We just loved it so much.
We went in not knowing what to expect. It was in Hartford and we got a bit lost going from the parking garage to finding the auditorium but by moments we made it in time.
There were eight groups and we loved each one.
Abigail's chamber group played Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten.
I had no idea that she helped to choose this piece and the composer - she actually knew his work and suggested him. I had never heard of him.
Even more delightful was the surprise we had as she introduced the piece and thanked her fellow musicians.
Now we can't wait for the next one!
