Field Trip Friday ~ Trolley Museum

Connecticut has a Trolley Museum. It's not far from our house. So last Friday we ventured out. I love little mini trips with my girls in the summer.

And I love dresses above the knees. They're so 1940ish. I can watch Miracle on 34th street over and over just for the dresses and coats that little girl wears.

1

Anyway.... lovely trolley ride on a car built in 1920. I sit on the ride and picture the men coming home from work commuting to and from the city so that their family could have a better life. Kind of what we do still these days. We all try so hard to give our children the best possible life. I remember once my Grandfather said to me as he was telling my about moving from the city to the suburb that "we all try for each generation to give them a bit more. So they'll have more and be a bit more ahead." As a little girl at the time I couldn't imagine trying to give my children more than I had. I remember thinking how wonderful my life was and wouldn't it be great if my children could just have this? I must have been sitting in my Grandmother's kitchen filled with food I loved and people I loved sounds I loved and feelings I loved.

Abigail will hate that I posted this picture one day of her, but I loved her little pose. It's just that my little point and shoot purse camera is just a wee bit slow.

Oh how I love everything "olden" as Anna says.

A New Bracelet, A New Haircut, and a trip to the playground

new braclet 4

Abigail got a little present in the mail this week.  I ordered her this adorable allergy bracelet.  It was a blank bracelet with holes for adding in the buttons showing the allergies she has.

Sad to say that all of the holes on her bracelet were filled.

Anna had fun helping her make her bracelet.

I just love how it frames her face.

It's so much less "heavy" looking in the front.

The Best Days of Summer

We had plans today. I love to keep the girls learning, moving, outside, and at different places. But I walked into Anna's room today to find this.

2

It's not a rare moment. In fact it's all they do.

They are together. They are sisters. They are best friends.

5

There was urgency in Abigail's face as she was pretending that her bitty baby was sick.

How could I interrupt this? For these are the best days of summer. A whole day laid out in front of them with nothing to do... but be together.

Friday Field Trip ~Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art

Well, I think I've been using my little purse point and shoot too much. I wonder if my fingers and my brain still know how to use my big camera. I've got to break that out again this weekend!

We spent the day at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. Love it there! Relaxing, creative, entertaining, wonderful! Here are a few snapshots from the day...

Memory Verse

When we memorize, we internalize. It becomes deep with us; it becomes part of us. It is roots. It is comfort years from now. It holds us together. This week it is....

Her Morning Routine

Abigail is never far from a baby doll. She has a few favorites... baby corale, bitty baby (that looks like her), or Anna's old bitty baby. But the baby really doesn't matter; she loves taking care of baby dolls.

1

This summer this has been her morning routine. Before anything she must get a baby ready for the day.

2

First she lays out the outfit. (She has many many bitty baby outfits but it's always a combination of this one)

3 4 collage

She takes all of this very seriously. "Take a picture of this mommy."

5

Then she dresses her.

6

Then she smooths her.

7

Then she holds her.

8

Baby love.
